It’s The Pauses That Are Sweet - It’s the spaces in between the doing and being that allows for light and breath. This is the place where hope springs from. It’s where dreams reside and the silence shifts the shadows. Woven from recycled copper wire using an ancient basketry looping technique around a vine foraged from a fallen tree.
Catriona Pollard has established a reputation as a distinctive fibre artist who uses traditional basketry techniques to transform foraged plant fibres and recycled metals into sculptural works.
A critical part of her work is spending dedicated time in solitude in the bush, building a spiritual language with the landscape.
By sharing dialogue with natural materials and allowing them to inform the narrative of her artwork, it means that stories are formed and shared from the landscape in transformational ways – in a language that provides new meanings and relationships with nature and humans.
Catriona has had seven solo exhibitions, exhibited extensively in selected and group exhibitions and has been a finalist in many art awards.
